With the commencement of the new decade, Boulevard One is launching a new social chapter, with special emphasis on the social happenings of Dubai society amongst so much more. It was in honor of this new segment, that they hosted ‘A Vogue Moment’, featuring the fabulous HSY, Maheen Karim and Hussain Rehar. Three designers, each unique in their style and aesthetic but all of whom have created legacies that transcend international borders.

The evening started with an amazing collection by Hussain Rehar: an up and coming brand that is renowned for its unbridled creativity. He showcased his latest collection” Felicia”, inspired by flowers; an inspiration that was clearly visible with the exotic and colorful designs. His clothes presented a fresh and unique take on Pakistani couture and as described by the designer  himself,” is beautiful for the upcoming spring summer season.”

Next to take the stage was Maheen Karim, undoubtedly one of the most talented designs in Pakistan. Her recent collection Shahinaz was heavily inspired by Pakistani traditional heritage. As Karim put it so eloquently,

“we will never let go of our heritage as that is who we are and what defines us as Pakistani.”.

Traditional embroideries and techniques were used in a modern way to accentuate the beauty the outfits. The contrasting silhouettes; floor length anarkali vs saree pants were a prefect reflection of Pakistan today: traditions of the past being adapted to today’s modern woman.

And finally, audiences were dazzled by the King of Couture himself HSY. The models embodied royalty and elegance as they walked down the red carpet runway. The impeccable color palette and glittering embroideries were truly something remarkable as they merged our rich Pakistani heritage with modern silhouettes and style. Designer HSY stressed on how important it was for him to promote Pakistan in his work; all the embroideries and work on his clothes were done by local artisans from different villages.

“It is important to showcase our talent, our work and embroideries; for everybody to get a glimpse of the beauty of Pakistan.”

The designers each showcased a unique side of Pakistani fashion: the traditional wedding wear and embroideries to more contemporary silhouettes to represent the modern woman. With beauty partners as talented as Keune Pakistan for hair, Marquee for the flawless makeup, The Nail Spa, and stylish accessories from Chic Shoes and Hamna Amir Jewelry, the runway looks were absolutely breathtaking. It was a truly memorable evening, the perfect amalgamation of traditional and contemporary fashion in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.
